Author visit - Olaf Falafel

We are very lucky to be hosting a visit from children’s author and illustrator Olaf Falafel on 22nd November 2019.

Olaf will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landings by visiting 50 schools around the UK and Oakley Primary Academy is fortunate enough to be one of the 50 schools chosen. During his visit Olaf will talk to the children about being a comedian and author, covering his love of illustration and story writing which began when he was in primary school and he will teach the children how to draw a character from the book.

If you would like to purchase a copy of his new book “One Giant Leek for Mankind”, a fantastic, adventure filled story celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landings, please complete the slip below and return it to school by Friday 15th November 2019 along with the £10 payment. The 32 page hardback book cleverly combines historical fact with hilariously creative fiction and is retailing at £12.99, but being offered to children at Oakley Primary for a reduced price of £10. The session will finish with book signing of those books that have been purchased.

Please ensure that the correct money (CASH ONLY) is placed in an envelope and clearly marked with your child’s name, class andbook order and hand to the school office or your child’s teacher.

Welcome to Oakley Primary Academy

On behalf of the governors, the staff, pupils I would like to welcome you to Oakley Primary Academy. We are friendly village school with exciting times ahead as we begin our journey of being a full primary school this year. We are a member of the Sharnbrook Academy Federation and work closely with all of the schools within the Federation, as well as other schools and pre-schools in the local area. This enables us to share expertise, good practice and learn and move forward together. The close links we have with the pre-schools enable us to really get to know the pupils and their families before they join the Early Years.

We are proud to be a ‘Values School’. The values we teach are modelled by all of the team and through our teaching of the curriculum. We are a supportive and hardworking team, where all stakeholders are valued and listened to.

At Oakley Primary Academy we deliver the National Curriculum through a creative curriculum so that learning is creative, fun and meaningful. There is a clear progression of skills in each subject to enable children to grow in all areas and be successful, not only in key assessments, but in daily life.

We work very closely with the families of our school and acknowledge the importance of close home/school links. We have an open door policy and there is always someone available if you wish to talk.

I am extremely proud of our school and of all the hard work from our pupils, families, staff, PTA and governors.

If you would like any further information about our school please make contact via the details on this website.
