Year 3 - Activity Day - Kempston Outdoor Centre

Year 3 - Activity Day to Kempston Outdoor Centre

We planning on taking the Year 3 children on an outdoor and adventurous activity day on Friday 9th June 2017 at the
Kempston Outdoor Centre, Hillgrounds Road, Kempston.

The activity day is organised in consultation with the instructors and staff at the Outdoor Centre. The experience aims to
reinforce children’s self esteem, team work and build individual confidence. School staff will be responsible for children at
all times but activities will be organised by the centre’s trained instructional staff. Water sport activities are an integral
part of the programme and whilst there is no requirement for participants to be able to swim, we need to know whether
your child can swim or not.

The children will have the chance to participate in three main activities which could include crate stacking, rafted canoeing
and climbing.

The cost will be £27.00 and this will cover the cost of instructional staff, coach travel and insurance.

While there is no obligation on the part of parents to contribute to the cost of an activity and pupils will not be treated
differently according to whether or not their parents make a contribution, the activity will unfortunately not take place if
parents are reluctant to give it adequate financial support. If you wish to pay in smaller installments please contact Mrs
Wille at the school office to arrange this.

Note: If you have any difficulty paying in this instance please speak to Mrs Wille in the office.

Further information concerning what the children will be required to bring with them on the activity day will be provided
nearer to the event.

We feel that this activity day would be a valuable experience for our Year 3 children. This year we have decided to have a
Year 3 activity day as well as a separate one for Year 4.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or worries.

Welcome to Oakley Primary Academy

I would like to welcome you to Oakley Primary Academy. We are a friendly village school with exciting times ahead as we begin our journey of being part of the newly formed Meridian Trust. We work closely with all the schools within the Trust, as well as other schools and pre-schools in the local area. This enables us to share expertise, good practice and learn and move forward together. The close links we have with the pre-schools enable us to really get to know the pupils and their families before they join the Early Years.

We are proud to be a ‘Values School’. The values we teach are modelled by our staff members and through our teaching of the curriculum. We are a supportive and hardworking team, where all stakeholders are valued and listened to.

At Oakley Primary Academy we deliver the National Curriculum through a creative curriculum so that learning is creative, fun, and meaningful. There is a clear progression of knowledge in each subject to enable children to grow in all areas and be successful, not only academically, but in daily life.

We work very closely with the families of our school and acknowledge the importance of close home/school links.

We have an open-door policy and there is always someone available if you wish to talk.

I am extremely proud of our school and of all the hard work from our pupils, families, staff, and governors.
