Year 5 Swimming

This year we will be offering Year 5 pupils the opportunity to take part in a six week scheme of swimming.

We plan to include all children who are working towards the National Curriculum recommendation of 25
metres but will also provide the opportunity for children who can swim 25 metres to work on building
confidence and stroke development. The lessons will take place at Trinity Arts & Leisure, Bromham Road,
Bedford on Monday mornings during the second part of the summer term.

Dates of sessions – 4.6.18, 11.6.18, 18.6.18, 25.6.18, 2.7.18, 9.7.18.

Children will be accompanied to the pool by members of staff from Oakley Primary and will get changed
with supervision from our own school staff. Lessons will last for half an hour and will be taught by a qualified
swimming instructor. You will need to bring a substantial packed lunch in for your child on swimming days
due to the timing of their lessons. They will eat a bit before they go and finish off the rest when they return
at 1.30pm. If you are entitled to free school meals you can order a packed lunch through parent pay from
the kitchen.

Lessons and the hire of the pool will be paid for by Oakley Primary but we request a voluntary contribution
of £12 to pay for the coach.

Welcome to Oakley Primary Academy

On behalf of the governors, the staff, pupils I would like to welcome you to Oakley Primary Academy. We are friendly village school with exciting times ahead as we begin our journey of being a full primary school this year. We are a member of the Sharnbrook Academy Federation and work closely with all of the schools within the Federation, as well as other schools and pre-schools in the local area. This enables us to share expertise, good practice and learn and move forward together. The close links we have with the pre-schools enable us to really get to know the pupils and their families before they join the Early Years.

We are proud to be a ‘Values School’. The values we teach are modelled by all of the team and through our teaching of the curriculum. We are a supportive and hardworking team, where all stakeholders are valued and listened to.

At Oakley Primary Academy we deliver the National Curriculum through a creative curriculum so that learning is creative, fun and meaningful. There is a clear progression of skills in each subject to enable children to grow in all areas and be successful, not only in key assessments, but in daily life.

We work very closely with the families of our school and acknowledge the importance of close home/school links. We have an open door policy and there is always someone available if you wish to talk.

I am extremely proud of our school and of all the hard work from our pupils, families, staff, PTA and governors.

If you would like any further information about our school please make contact via the details on this website.
