Following our Ofsted inspection on 1st and 2nd October 2024, Oakley Primary Academy received a very positive report that highlights the exceptional work happening in our school every day.
The inspectors praised our school across all five key areas: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. We are particularly proud that behaviour and attitudes at Oakley were rated as 'Outstanding', with the other areas receiving 'Good' ratings. As you may be aware, Ofsted has changed its inspection framework by removing single-word judgements. However, this new approach does not diminish the positive findings of our report.
The report commends our highly supportive environment, noting that "pupils feel safe and valued" and that "the school's core values of being ready, responsible, and respectful are well-embedded in the culture." This positive feedback reflects the nurturing environment we strive to create for your children.
Our commitment to creating a love of reading was clear for the inspectors to see. They found that "pupils develop a love of reading right from early years" and praised our well-stocked library and reading corners. They were also impressed by how our older pupils are supported to tackle challenging texts, developing their vocabulary and comprehension skills.
The report also recognises our broad and well-structured curriculum, which "helps pupils build rich knowledge over time." The inspectors noted that "the curriculum is well-sequenced to meet the needs of all pupils," ensuring that every child is engaged and challenged. Our curriculum is just one area in which we have worked collaboratively with colleagues across Meridian Trust, which plays a crucial role in our pursuit of excellence.
Attendance was another area of praise, with the report noting that "pupils attend school regularly and enjoy their learning experiences." This is due to the strong relationships we have created with you, our families, and the engaging learning environment we provide. We would like to thank you for your continued support in ensuring high attendance for your children.
Shelley Flynn, Executive Principal of Meridian Trust, said “The positive report is a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the entire school community. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
Of course, the report also identified some areas for us to focus on moving forward. We value this feedback, acknowledge it, and have already begun addressing the area for improvement.
We want to take this moment to thank our families for your continued support and partnership. It is wonderful to see that the inspectors have confirmed what we already knew – that together, we are making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of our pupils.
