Our School Council
Oakley Primary Academy has a school council which is made up of a group of children from Year 1 upwards. The Council includes a member of staff and the Head of School is sometimes invited to attend the meetings to discuss specific agenda items.
The children apply for the post on the council and then chosen through a democratic process.
The school council meet regularly to discuss current issues relating to our school. They gather and represent the views of their peers and feedback to them on decisions made.
The children help make decisions about how to further develop the learning environment and how best to spend allocated money.
As well as teaching the children about democracy it gives the pupils a sense of ownership.
