KS2 Swimming

The National Curriculum states that all schools must provide swimming instruction to children,
either in key stage 1 or key stage 2. Many schools satisfy this requirement by taking children from
one year group (usually Year 4) to the local swimming pool for several sessions throughout a
term. At Oakley, we aim to make our swimming offer as inclusive and comprehensive as
possible, and to that end have again hired a swimming pool so that lessons can take place onsite.

Having our own ‘on-site’ pool enables us to eliminate transport costs (which have increased
dramatically in recent years) and offer lessons for more children across the school at a much
better value per pupil. All children who are working towards the recommendation of swimming
25 metres will have access to lessons, but so too will children who can swim 25 metres and are
working on building confidence and stroke development.

The pool will be erected on the playground for two weeks and lessons will take place from 13th to
the 24th May 2024.

A timetable will be sent home nearer the time showing the days your child will require their
swimming kit.

Welcome to Oakley Primary Academy

It brings me great pleasure to welcome you to Oakley Primary Academy, a proud member of the Meridian Trust. Having joined the school in September 2023, I am honoured to be here to seek to make Oakley the first-choice school for parents and carers in the heart of the community of our wonderful village and local area.

We hope that, during their time with us, our children will enjoy exciting new experiences, deepen and broaden their knowledge of our curriculum, make new friends and love every day. We are very fortunate to have a highly-experienced, professional and dedicated staff body whom I know are committed to ensuring we do our very best for your children.

If you are a parent / carer who is considering sending your child to join our fantastic school, we encourage you to come and see us 'in action' during the day. We are confident that you will agree this is a place your child can thrive.

I look forward to meeting you.
