At Oakley Primary Academy, we recognise that our pupils have a variety of needs. We are committed to the inclusion of all pupils in a broad and balanced curriculum, made accessible through adapted activities and interventions.

We aim to ensure the identification of all pupils requiring Special Educational Needs provision as early as possible in their educational journey, to ensure they can access the curriculum and take as full a part as possible in school activities.

We track and monitor the progress and attainment of SEND pupils closely and work alongside the children and families to ensure that they are involved in the provision we provide.

We recognise that many pupils will have special needs at some time during their school life and believe pupils will be helped to overcome their difficulties and barriers by parents, teachers and pupils working together.

Definition of Special Educational Needs

A child has special educational needs if he or she has learning difficulties that call for special educational provision to be made.

Children have a learning difficulty if they have significantly greater difficulty in learning than most children of the same age or have a disability which needs different educational facilities from those that schools generally provide for children of the same age in the area.

Educational provision is that which is additional to, or otherwise different from, the educational provision made generally for children of their age in schools.

If your child has been identified as having a special educational need there is further information and confidential support provided by Bedford Borough through the Parent Partnership Service. Please follow this link for more information.

Welcome to Oakley Primary Academy

It brings me great pleasure to welcome you to Oakley Primary Academy, a proud member of the Meridian Trust. Having joined the school in September 2023, I am honoured to be here to seek to make Oakley the first-choice school for parents and carers in the heart of the community of our wonderful village and local area.

We hope that, during their time with us, our children will enjoy exciting new experiences, deepen and broaden their knowledge of our curriculum, make new friends and love every day. We are very fortunate to have a highly-experienced, professional and dedicated staff body whom I know are committed to ensuring we do our very best for your children.

If you are a parent / carer who is considering sending your child to join our fantastic school, we encourage you to come and see us 'in action' during the day. We are confident that you will agree this is a place your child can thrive.

I look forward to meeting you.

Mr. Callum Brown
